In an essay for the international conference ‘Keep Moving’ (2012), I sketch lessons from 30 years sustainable mobility policy: what does and what doesn’t work. European environmental standards and car taxation are effective, while limiting cars use has been an illusion. See also my presentation for the Dutch Climate Summit in 2016.
In 2012 and 2013, I chaired the CEPS Task Force on Transort and Climate Change, including all major stakeholders. They advized on a 70% reduction in CO2 from transport, in line with the above summarized approach.
